Dental Crowns in Fayetteville, NC
If you are dealing with a damaged, weak, or fractured tooth then dental crowns offer an excellent solution to repair, stabilize, and reinforce a natural tooth. Crowns are tooth-shaped dental restorations that restore full function into a tooth, which is incredibly important after dealing with severe decay or damage. Here at our Fayetteville, NC, practice, Dr. Tracie Legette can provide your smile with beautiful, natural, and long-lasting dental crowns.
The Dental Crown Process
The dental crowns that we offer right here in our Fayetteville, NC, office provide both restorative and cosmetic benefits for the wearer. A dental crown creates a protective barrier to preserve what’s left of a natural tooth’s structure after an injury, decay, or infection. The crowns we offer our patients are always custom-made to fit each individual’s mouth, and they are always made from the highest-quality, tooth-colored materials such as porcelain.
Getting a dental crown is fairly simple. We will first need to treat the tooth and then prep it for the crown. This means shaving some enamel and reshaping the tooth so that there is room for the crown to fit over the tooth. Of course, we will also need to treat any decay or infection first before we can start crafting your crown.
Once the tooth has been treated and prepped, Dr. Legette and her team will then take impressions of your mouth. It can take a couple of weeks to get your crown, so in the meantime, we will provide you with a temporary crown to wear over the tooth to protect it and restore chewing and functionality into your smile while you wait for your permanent crown to be made.
In about 3-4 weeks, you’ll come back into our office so that we can fit you with your permanent crown. Once we’ve checked the fit and know you’re satisfied with your new restoration, we will cement the crown in place over the tooth. With the proper care, our dental crowns are designed to last years. In fact, some patients even maintain the same crown for a decade or two.
